Store Steward

Apply to be a Store Steward for Way of Being! (Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?)

The Job, Should You Choose to Accept It:

You’ll help run our brick-and-mortar shop in Portland during some of our open hours (starting with one day a week), and your mission will be to provide friendly, encouraging, and intentional customer service. You'll also assist with sales, maintain the appearance of our sales floor, and, most importantly, help educate our community on sustainable living.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone who’s passionate about conscious consumerism and low-waste living.
  • Someone who vibes with our positive, slightly whimsical approach to education and inspiration.
  • Someone who’s comfortable talking to people from all walks of life and can make them feel included and empowered.
  • Someone who’s open to trying new things.
  • Someone with customer service experience or a willingness to learn.
  • Someone with a great attitude who can work independently while contributing to a small, mission-driven team.
  • Someone based in or near Portland who can work at least once a week (weekend availability is a big plus!).

Bonus Points if You Are:

  • Someone who’s savvy with social media (we’d love if you could help create content for our Instagram!).
  • Someone with an eye for aesthetics who enjoys product photography, videography, and editing.

What You Get:

  • Part-time work with flexible hours (6-12 hours/week to start, including one weekend day).
  • One free item per month + a 15% employee discount.
  • A starting hourly rate of $15.95+, depending on experience.
  • Owners who are committed to cultivating an amazing, supportive work experience (we think we’re pretty fun too!).
  • The opportunity to grow with us and help shape the future of Way of Being.
  • A platform to educate and inspire others to minimize their harm to the environment and lead more intentional, satisfying lives.
